Residents living near the railway line between Cologne and Bonn will have to prepare for night-time construction noise in 2020. Deutsche Bahn, for example, will renew the overhead contact line systems on the open line in two construction phases.

The first construction phase will take place between Monday, 6 January, and Friday, 1 May, from 10 pm to 5.30 am. According to Deutsche Bahn, work will be carried out in parallel in sections between Hürth-Kalscheuren and Brühl and between Sechtem and Bonn. During this time, foundations will be laid and new steel masts erected. This will result in minor timetable changes, which will affect numerous commuters. Details will be announced in due course.

During the second construction phase from Saturday, 18 July, to Monday, 10 August, the line will be closed continuously. The section between Sechtem and Bonn will be completely affected, and between Hürth-Kalscheuren and Brühl single-track operation will be made possible during the day. The railway also will explain details of this later.
