Troisdorf If you have ever wanted to stand in front of the camera with Diane Kruger and Martin Freeman, your wish could now come true. There is to be an open casting for the thriller “The Operative” in Troisdorf.
A casting in Troisdorf town hall this coming Saturday, 7 July, may be a big opportunity for talents across the region. The casting agency Eick is looking for more than 400 people between the ages of 10 and 80 to work in front of the camera for one to five days of filming for the spy thriller “The Operative.”
Filming for the international film production will take place in the region in mid-July including in Troisdorf, Cologne and Bonn. The film’s stars Diane Kruger (“In the Fade” and “Inglourious Basterds”) and Martin Freeman (“The Hobbit” and “Sherlock”) will also be there.
Kruger plays an agent spying for the Israeli secret service in Iran. Freeman plays her former handler, who sets off in search of her. Filming has been taking place in Israel since the start of June.
In keeping with the film’s locations, the casting agency from Ennepetal is not only looking for people of German appearance but also for faces which could come from the Middle East, from Iran or Israel. Around 30 men and women are to play secret agents in the film. For school scenes, the production needs around 30 children between 10 and 16 years old as well as adults who can slip into roles as teachers. Roles as extras and also several speaking roles are to be cast, said Gregor Weber from the Eick agency. For some roles, English and Iranian language skills are also helpful.
Even if participants in the casting do not get a role in “The Operative,” the journey to Troisdorf need not be for nothing, as Weber explains further. The casting team is responsible for various feature film productions as well as for the TV series “Tatort” from Münster, Dortmund and Cologne. All casting participants will have the chance to then be used for further projects.
Employees from the agency will take photos. Participants must also complete an information sheet.
Those interested can come to the open casting on Saturday 7 July between noon and 3pm in the Stadthalle Troisdorf, Kölner Straße 167. Participation is free. There is no need to pre-register.
