GA short list Sledding and skiing in the region

REGION · For winter sports enthusiasts it’s a great time because lots of snow has fallen in Bonn and the region on Wednesday. We give you some tips on where you might find the best conditions are for skiing and sledding.

Tobogganists and skiers: fresh snow in the region brings some promising conditions to many winter sports locations. Here, we introduce you to some areas that are suitable for sledding. For the latest information on cross country, ski and toboggan slopes, the “Schneetelefon” (snow telephone) numbers are also listed (all in German).

Ramelsbach

There is a sledding slope in Ramersbach, the high-altitude area of Bad Neuenahr-Ahrweiler. It is located directly on the L84 road opposite the hiking car park on the Königsfelder Dreieck.

2 Nettersheim

For cross-country skiing fans, the small community of Nettersheim has something to offer. If there is enough snow, you can get on the eight-kilometer ski circular route here.

3 Blankenheim

Those who like to sit in the café and watch their children sledding will find the perfect situation in the Blankenheim district Nonnenbach. There is a small sledding hill for children right next to the Waldcafé Maus. From Wednesday to Sunday between 10am and 7pm, sleds can be rented from the café.

4 Michelsberg (Bad Münstereifel)

The Michelsberg ski area (at 588 meters) near Bad Münstereifel is inviting for toboggan fans and skiers. It is a popular destination especially for families. In addition to the activities on the slopes, winter hikes can also be made on well-developed paths around the local mountain of Bad Münstereifel. You can park on the lots "Ceiling Tönnes" and "Bleielsnück", but also below the Michelsberg.

5 Hohe Acht (Kaltenborn)

At Hohe Acht, with 747 meters making it the highest mountain of the Eifel, traditionally there are good conditions for winter sports during the snowy weather. The toboggan run from the Berghotel to Jammelshofen should be in full operation when there is persistent snowfall. The ski lifts near the Waldhotel in Jammelshofen are open on workdays from 1 to 5 pm with sufficient snow conditions - and from 9 am to 5 pm on Saturdays and Sundays. The cross-country trails "Lützelacht" around the Hohe Acht have a length of 5, 4 and 2.5 kilometers.

6 Arft

A stone's throw from the Hohe Acht is the winter sports facility Arft. There are good sledding conditions on snowy days. The lift runs Monday, Wednesday and Friday from 5 to 9:30 pm, Tuesday and Thursday from 4 to 8:30 pm, on Saturday from 12 to 4:30 pm and on Sunday from 10 am to 4:30 pm.

7 Weißer Szein (Hellenthal)

The winter sports area "Weißer Stein" near Hellenthal is also open for tobogganing and skiing. The ski and toboggan lifts run in good snow conditions on weekdays and Saturdays from 11 am and Sundays from 10 am. At the "Weißensteinhütte" sleds can be rented. The trails are groomed only when snow conditions are good enough.

8 Hollerath

640 meters high is the skiing and tobogganing area Hollerath - very close to the Hellenthaler ski area "Weißer Stein". The toboggan run is 150 meters long and there are 7.8 kilometers of signposted and groomed trails when snow conditions are optimal. If you do not want to ski on the slopes and trails, you can use the signposted winter hiking trails. Winter sports equipment can be rented in Hollerath.

9 Monschau

A little further away, near the Belgian border, lies the Monschau ski area. A toboggan meadow at the district of Rohren offers optimal conditions for sledding fans in good snow conditions. For cross-country skiing fans, several marked trails are available. A special attraction are the winter bike tour offers. Sleds, skis and bikes can be rented on site at the winter sports center at Rödchenstraße 37.

10 Schwarzer Mann (Prüm)

In the northwest of Prüm, the winter sports area Schwarzer Mann offers a 450-meter toboggan run as well as a children’s toboggan run. There are also two alpine ski runs 700 and 900 meters in length. The toboggan run has its own lift. The toboggan rental can be found in the so-called "log cabin" at the end of the slopes. For day visitors there is also a large parking lot available.
