Bonn. 13,729 runners took part in the 18th Deutsche Post Marathon on Sunday. Here are all the photos from the big event, runners and spectators alike. Colorful, crazy, full of energy and exhausted - the photos tell the story.
The 18th Deutsche Post Bonn Marathon took place this past weekend, with 13,729 runners participating. Lots of spectators showed up to cheer on the runners, and the sun showed up as well, pushing away the dark clouds for the start of the half-marathon.
With his personal best time of 2:19:04 hours the Kenyan Dickson Kurui won the competition. Semere Fsehhation from Eritrea won the half-marathon. Local hero Annika Zeyen also deserves praise. The Paralympic gold medal winner was the fastest handbiker to finish.
The Bonn City Championship went to Dennis Klusmann. Included in this years race just like in past years were relay teams, inline skaters and handbikers. Bonn’s mayor Ashok Sridharan also participated. Light showers in the morning made for a rather wet route for the marathoners.
