Those going on vacation or taking a day trip, or just making the daily commute, can look forward to the heaviest traffic so far this season. The German automobile association ADAC expects the heaviest traffic in NRW on Thursday between 1pm and 8pm. On Saturday, it is likely to be congested only on the long-distance routes heading towards the Alps. In good weather, one can expect some temporary bouts of heavy traffic heading towards the coast. Those who take to the road on Easter Sunday can expect open roads.

Most affected are the motorways in southern Germany and those leading to the North Sea and Baltic Sea, as well as built-up metropolitan areas. Unstable weather could also aggravate traffic conditions for short periods.
