BONN The Old Town Hall in Bonn can now be experienced digitally via an app available for all Apple and Android devices. The support association is also sponsoring new external lighting.
Bonn Old Town Hall can now be experienced digitally using the Old Town Hall support association’s new app “Altes Rathaus Bonn”. “With the app, visitors can go on a journey back into the Old Town Hall’s past and see again, for example, John F Kennedy being greeted by huge cheers from Bonn residents on the Market Square,” explained Volker Schramm, chairman of the Old Town Hall Association and board member of Sparkasse Köln-Bonn, at the presentation of the app.
“The milestones in the construction history of this historic building, from the laying of the foundation stone to the present day are also captured in a film. Another film shows the tasks and functions of the town hall over time,” continued Schramm.
The Old Town Hall is opened virtually through integrated audio tours and a virtual tour of reception rooms such as the Star Room and the Tapestry Hall. The app is also available in English for international guests to Bonn.
A student app was also developed which includes a quiz on the Old Town Hall. The app is to be integrated into the school curriculum. Discussions are currently taking place with the school authorities.
App available for all Apple and Android devices
The app is available for all Apple and Android devices. It is the association’s latest support project for the preservation of the Old Town Hall in Bonn. Another measure recently implemented by the association is the new lighting system that has been putting the Old Town Hall in a new light since the end of March.
“I am very grateful to the Old Town Hall association for their tireless commitment,” said Lord Mayor Ashok Sridharan at the presentation.
