Police and customs forces were deployed to Hennef on Thursday morning. In the former railway station in Bröl, investigators have discovered a large cannabis plantation with around a thousand plants. A suspect was arrested during the search, which has been running since 6 am.

The system stretches over three floors and is professionally equipped with a ventilation system and heat lamps, according to local emergency personnel. According to GA information, the reference to the plantation came from other European countries. According to initial findings, a group from southeastern Europe was behind the plantation.

The federal highway 478 was closed for use. This caused traffic obstructions in the area of the busy main road. The investigators estimate that the operation will continue until Thursday evening and probably beyond.

The Essen Customs Investigation Office is responsible for the search on behalf of the Bonn Public Prosecutor's Office.
