Police raid at Aennchenplatz Shishabar and Supermarket closed down

Bad Godesberg · Investigations into a violent confrontation in August resulted in a police raid on several businesses in Bad Godesberg.

Police showed up with around 40 officers on Monday afternoon at Aennchenplatz and Villichgasse to search a bar and several businesses. The persons running those establishments were believed to be involved in a violent confrontation at the beginning of August. Ordnungsamt (Public order officers) worked with police to conduct the raid.

On August 10, police had been called to the area when a conflict between business owners escalated and three persons were injured. Three men were also taken into custody by police at the time. Witnesses had reported that an ax and a knife were used during the fight in August. There was also property damage to a bar and an office as a result of the violence. Another incident occurred on August 9 when a 37-year-old bar owner and a 29-year-old went to a nearby office and attacked the owner. Police are currently investigating the incidents and possible related charges.

Following the raid on Monday, police closed down a Shisha bar at Aennchenplatz and sealed it up. A neighboring supermarket and two real estate offices were also closed up and sealed off. None of them will be allowed to operate a commercial business in Germany for at least a year. The businesses will only be permitted to reopen with new owner/operators.
