One year after the adoption of the historic Paris Agreement with its aim to limit the global temperature rise to well below 2°C, a swift decarbonization of the global energy sector, which accounts for more than two thirds of global greenhouse gas emissions, is critical.

The free of charge “Global Renewable Energy Forum” addresses this issue and brings together numerous renowned international experts who will discuss their visions of how a rapid transition towards a low-carbon economy can be achieved. A total of 14 presentations within the 3 topical modules of “Renewable Energy Policy”, “Renewable Energy Finance”, and “Technology and Innovation” will cover a variety of topics pertaining to renewable energy, climate change, and the decarbonization of the energy sector.

The conference will be opened by Consul General KEUM Chang Rok, Head of the Bonn Office of the Embassy of the Republic of Korea, IRENA Deputy Director General Mr. Sakari Oksanen, and UNFCCC Deputy Executive Secretary Mr. Richard Kinley.

Being one of the most important conferences in the fields of climate change and renewable energy policy, the event provides excellent networking opportunities for representatives from the political, financial, and private sector.

As global climate change poses one of today’s biggest challenges to humanity, the Embassy of the Republic of Korea, Bonn Office, and its partners are looking forward to addressing the decarbonization of the energy sector at the first "Global Renewable Energy Forum".
