Warning systems Sirens will sound on Saturday

Bonn · Civil protection sirens will be tested on Saturday in the Bonn and Rhine-Sieg area.

Warning sirens will sound in Bonn and the Rhine-Sieg area on Saturday 1 April between 12 noon and 12.30pm. The area will be taking part in a test alarm along with Cologne, Wesseling, Leverkusen, Krefeld and the Rheinisch Bergische district and a test message will also be sent via the warning app “Nina”. The test is to ensure all warning sirens are working properly.

The aim is also to remind residents of the meaning of the siren signal: the continuous wailing siren, getting louder and then quieter, to be sounded on Saturday indicates a dangerous situation.

The city of Bonn is currently modernising its warning system. It is installing new stationary, electronic, high-performance sirens on buildings. The Bonn fire service will test new mobile warning systems at the same time as the siren alarm test. These are available to all units and can be deployed very quickly.
