Public transport in Rhineland Trains in Bonn and the region running more often from December
Bonn/Rhein-Sieg-Kreis · Nahverkehr Rheinland has announced changes to the train timetable. From mid-December the service is to be improved but there will also be some cancellations.
The timetable change on Sunday, 15th December will lead to changes and improvements in the region's services, the transport association Nahverkehr Rheinland (NVR) has announced. The RE8 line (Mönchengladbach, Beuel, Koblenz) will make an additional stop in Troisdorf Friedrich-Wilhelmshütte throughout the day on weekdays. On the parallel RB27 line, additional late trains will be running, especially at weekends. This line will now run via the airport. According to NVR, the S23 line between Bonn and Euskirchen will offer new early departures and the 15-minute interval will be extended with a further three departures. Between Cologne and Bonn, the peak traffic time on the RB48 line will be extended by two hours.
Construction work on several lines will result in cancellations. On the RE9 (Aachen, Siegburg, Siegen) the reinforcement trains (6 a.m. and 7 a.m. from Au, 4 p.m. and 5 p.m. from Cologne) will not be running from 14 June 2020. In addition, there will be no stops in Cologne Messe/Deutz for five trains. The evening train from Cologne to Aachen at 9.47 p.m, which previously only ran during the week, will now also be running at weekends.
According to NVR, the RB26 line will also be affected by the construction work in Deutz. However, on weekdays there will be a new late train in both directions. In Cologne Messe/Deutz it starts at 1.50 a.m., in Remagen at 1.11 a.m. During the construction phase from June 2020, the trains will end in Cologne-Dellbrück or at night at the airport.
Stops cancelled due to Flixtrain
Also on this line, due to route conflicts with Flixtrain, the stops in Roisdorf and Hürth-Kalscheuren (as reported by GA) will be taken out for three trains in the direction of Cologne (arrival Cologne 11.02 a.m., 3.02 p.m. and 7.02 p.m.). In the opposite direction, two trains to Remagen will no longer stop in Rolandseck (departure Cologne 12.56 p.m and 4.56 p.m). According to the NVR, eleven trains on the S12 line (Horrem to Au), which previously ended in Cologne-Ehrenfeld, will be extended to Horrem during peak traffic hours in the week.
In addition, several trains that previously ended in Troisdorf will be extended to Hennef. Additional night trains are planned for the S19 (Düren to Au) during the week. Weekly morning trains to Blankenberg and Düren will be extended as well as evening trains from Troisdorf to Hennef. At weekends there will also be extra trains to Blankenberg and Düren. A further improvement - the night trains to Aachen will also stop in Eschweiler.
