If you are an early riser, this is just for you! These cafés in Bonn, selected by us, offer croissants, coffee and fresh bread rolls at (very) early hours. For those who are already up or still on their feet come daybreak, here is an overview of where you can go.

Café Breuer

Construction workers, trade fair visitors and a regular customer who arrives punctually at the door every morning at 6 a.m.: When Café Breuer in Oberkassel opens at 6 a.m. during the week, it is still pitch dark outside in winter. Guests can choose between five breakfast menus, says owner Margret Sauder - whether large, small, for two people or a French breakfast with croissant and café latte. The team of four bakes fresh rolls, various types of bread, cakes and pastries in the on-site bakery. On Sundays, it opens an hour later, but still early enough at 7 a.m..

C'est la Vie

Around 40 homemade tartlets, cupcakes, mousses and cakes can be found at the two locations of C'est la Vie - on Friedrichstrasse and Kölnstrasse - from 7:30 a.m. onwards. Then, the cafés fill up with guests who want to have a quick breakfast or simply enjoy the first meal of the day. In addition to French classics such as croissants, brioches, baguettes and pain au chocolat, there are also homemade tartlets in all variations.

Café Sued Bonn

If you have to catch the train quickly in the morning and need a cup of coffee beforehand, Café Sued Bonn on Poppelsdorfer Allee is the place for you. From 7:30 a.m. you can get Italian espresso, cappuccino and something to alleviate your hunger.

Frau Holle

Breakfast is served all day long at Frau Holle in the old town, writes the café on its website. It starts at 8 a.m.. Menu options include croissants, rolls and homemade wholemeal bread, a selection of French jam and honey, cheese, Serrano ham and tomatoes. On request, guests can also order other specialities such as freshly squeezed orange juice or a boiled egg. The hand-painted cups of the artist Deva Wolfram add to the unique atmosphere of the café.

Schloss-Café Poppelsdorf

If you are already up early on the weekend, you can visit the Schloss-Café Poppelsdorf from 7:30 a.m. onwards. In the cake showcase of the restaurant there are classics such as Black Forest cake or cakes with fruit and tartlets. French breakfast lovers can choose between croissants, brioche or pain au chocolat. On Christmas Eve and New Year's Eve, the Schlosscafé opens at 7 a.m. and closes at twelve.

Kurt - The coffee roaster

Two branches, the same philosophy: Café Kurt calls coffee its passion, which is why there are countless varieties and origins of coffees to choose from.
