Tragic accident in Siegburg Witnesses saw 26-year-old man before he died at the Michaelsberg

Siegburg · Witnesses had seen the young man while he was apparently searching for a lost set of keys before the 26-year-old died at the Michaelsberg in Siegburg on Wednesday evening.

Witnesses had seen the young man while he was apparently searching for a lost set of keys before he died at the Michaelsberg in Siegburg on Wednesday night. The police are not treating the body find at the Michaelsberg on Wednesday evening as suspicious after interviewing witnesses who reported having seen the 26-year-old from Troisdorf before he died. As the police said in a statement, several witnesses, who went to see the final Pützchens Markt fireworks from the abbey, have contacted the investigators independent of each other.

According to these reports the young man was searching for an apparently lost set of keys and climbed over the outer wall of the abbey. After that he disappeared from the onlookers’ field of vision. The police suspect that the man fell off a pedestal and suffered fatal injuries in the fall. The investigation continues. The body of a male person was found at around 6pm at the Michaelsberg in Siegburg near the Alfred-Keller-Straße, later identified as the 26-year-old from Troisdorf. The body was found in the bushes underneath a wall.

Shortly after the body was found the police suspected a tragic accident . The Siegburg fire brigade helped to floodlight the scene on Wednesday evening. Staff members of the public order office helped to retrieve the body. The man’s body was handed to the forensics department. A statement in regard to the forensic examination has not yet been issued. After the identification of the man on Thursday morning, the family and friends of the deceased was questioned in the hope of finding out more about the events prior to the fall.
