November 30 - December 2 Weekend tips for Bonn and the region

BONN/REGION · An English Christmas bazaar, a castle Christmas market (with bagpipes), and some outstanding musical acts from blues to rock to Christmas harp music. ABBA fans might enjoy the musical dinner and the musical “Alice in Wonderland” is fun for all ages. Enjoy the weekend!

For those of you who have not yet had a chance, it’s the perfect time for visiting a Christmas market in Bonn and the region. English Christmas Bazaar

Christmas Bazaar: Saturday, December 1, 12 -4pm, at St. Josef Pfarrheim (Church Hall), An St. Josef 19a, 53225 Bonn. There will be many stalls: English books, Christmas cards, crafts, gifts, jams, British foods and Tombola. Lunch, cakes and refreshments will be served all day. Advent market in Oberwinter

Advent market at the Marktplatz in Oberwinter: The Advent Market in Oberwinter opens on the first weekend of Advent, 1 and 2 December, in the historic center of Remagen-Oberwinter. Look forward to a large selection of Christmas decorations, handicrafts, carvings, spices, tea, liqueurs, glass articles, jewelry, Advent arrangements, cribs and candles in a charming atmosphere, starts at 4pm on Sat, 3pm on Sunday. Wein-Nachts-Markt

Wein-Nachts-Market: (can be translated into Wine Night Market or Christmas market - it’s a play on words). Around the festively illuminated monastery garden, with a huge Christmas tree in its middle, as well as in the church ruins of the winery, handicrafts and culinary delicacies are offered. Unique stalls present many beautiful things from pottery, woodturning and wrought-iron work to handmade Christmas decorations and treats. “Alice in Wonderland” musical

“Alice in Wonderland”: The musical is performed by students from Bonn International School (BIS). When Alice follows a white rabbit with a pocket watch, she tumbles into a world where nothing is the way it was before. Flowers, caterpillars and cats can speak, the Mad Hatter celebrates his non-birthday, and the Queen of Hearts' court consists of playing cards. Alice becomes very tiny or very large by eating cookies or carrots, and finds that none of the social rules she has learned will help her advance in this world. "Alice in Wonderland" is open to the public this Thursday and Friday, November 30 & December 1 at 7 pm in the auditorium of Bonn International School, Martin-Luther-King-Straße 14. ABBA Deluxe

ABBA Deluxe: Dinner show at the Godesburg. The ABBA TRIBUTE SHOW celebrates one of the most successful bands in music history, playing at lovely castles and hotels across Germany. They present ABBA hits - topped off by an exquisite 4-course meal. Ice Skating at Bonn on Ice

Bonn On Ice. It’s that time of year again when the weather is cold and winter sports are cool. Anyone who is inclined can put on some ice skates and do some figure eights around the ice skating rink in Bonn city center. Rental skates are available at the rink, Stadtgarten am Alten Zoll, Adenauerallee. Open on Friday and Saturday from 10am to 10pm and on Sunday from 10 am - 9pm. There is already a very high demand again for curling and reservations are required by signing up online: www.bonnonice.de

"We wish you a merry Christmas" with Tom Daun

"We wish you a merry Christmas": The sweet scent of a steaming pudding, a filled jug of "Christmas Ale", in the vase a green branch of holly with deep red berries - Christmas in England. Tom Daun invites you to a pre-Christmas concert: medieval monastic anthems, tender sounds of the English Renaissance, Celtic harp melodies for Advent, popular and lesser known carols for humming and singing along. Of course, some German Christmas melodies are also included. Tom Daun is one of the leading harpists in Germany and has postgraduate music degrees from Edinburgh University, as well as having studied at Cologne Conservatory. Toys2Masters final round

Toys2Masters: The band competition for up and coming bands in the region heads into the final round on Saturday with the bands Avalanche Effect, Gin Red, Ramble, Take One, Vinku, Wildfire and The Slapstickers. More than 80 bands have taken part in the competition and the winning band will receive 40,000 euros. The audience will decide together with the jury who will be the winner of the competition. Danny Bryant & Band at the Harmonie

Danny Bryant & band: The UK Blues Rock guitarist, who has been on a steady upward trajectory for several years, will present his new studio album "Revelation" (release date: 20.04.18, Jazzhaus Records) live on an extended European tour. Before Bryant and his band take the stage, blues guitarist Al Frinderman will perform. Frinderman's journey to the roots of the blues began after studying at the New York School of Visual Arts, he played in well known blues bands, performing in the hottest clubs in Georgia and Alabama.
