BONN/REGION · Bonn Festival 2018 is the big event this weekend and shops will be open on Sunday! In connection with the festival, Bonn Pop will get you in to many venues with just one ticket, and there’s great music this weekend too.

In Cologne, the Intermot Explo invites all two-wheel fans and the big Cologne marathon is on Sunday.

Bonn Festival 2018

City Marketing Association puts on this big festival in Bonn city the first weekend of October. Music, information, culinary treats and entertainment round out the attractive offerings. For the first time, there will be a “Wine Mile” on Friedrichstraße, and Münsterplatz will once again be a gourmet mile with specialties from all over Europe. On the Sunday of Bonn Fest, stores will be open for shopping from 1pm until 6pm. The festival itself is open 10am until 10pm on Friday, 12pm - 10pm on Saturday and Sunday. On Sunday, the closing is marked by the traditional sing-a-long to Beethoven’s “Ode to Joy” at 6:45pm with the Bonn Children’s and Youth Choir. Bonn Pop: One Ticket - 13 locations

The bonn.pop e.V. is a group of organizers, venues, media and non-profit organizations active in the pop, rock and subculture scene in Bonn. Their mission is to show Bonn’s lively subculture scene. This weekend, in conjunction with Bonn Festival 2018, you can enjoy many events, including concerts, readings, poetrySlam, short films, comedy, and parties for the price of just one ticket. The ticket is good for 10 hours in 13 different locations, all happening on Saturday night. It costs 9.90 euros (plus fees) in advance and 13 euros on the night, it includes a VRS public transport ticket so you can hop off and on again from one place to the next. Bonn Beat Festival: “Back to the sixties - The beat goes on!”

Back by popular demand, it’s the fourth “Beat Festival” in Bonn. On stage are Bonn bands that were all founded in the sixties, and most of them are still the original band members. For those of you out there who like blues, rock and pop of the 60‘s and 70‘s, don’t miss out on the party! Children's concert: "Peter and the Wolf"

“Peter and the Wolf” is a musical composition written by Sergei Prokofiev in 1936. The popular fairy tale is told by a narrator (Janina Burgmer) and accompanied by the Beethoven Orchestra. “No Place Like Home”: Theater in English

Reggae: „A Tribute to Bob Marley"

The band Marley’s Ghost was founded in 2015. With their rousing, authentic and unrivaled energy, the band not only transports the music and the many great songs of Bob Marley, but also his message. The Green Market

It’s the second edition of the ecological lifestyle market in Bonn, with cosmetics, fashion, textiles, food, accessories, entertainment, organic farming and foods and everything for the green urban heart. The Green Market will take place on Sunday, October 7 from 1 to 7 pm in the "BaseCamp" at In der Raste 1, Bonn. Entrance fee is 3 euros (children under 14 are free). Intermot Motorcycle Explo in Cologne

More than 1,000 companies from all over the world will come to Cologne to present their product range of motorcycles, scooters and e-bikes. Visitors will find many exhibitor showcases and events at the fair, with the latest models being put to the test on a race track. There is also an Intermot Biker Party with Streetfood, drinks and music. The fair is open for visitors from Wednesday, October 3 to Sunday, October 7, daily from 9am to 6pm. Rhein Energie Marathon Cologne 2018

The countdown is on for the big Cologne marathon which will take place in Cologne this Sunday, October 7. Like every year, it starts in Deutz in front of Ottoplatz (Otto Square) and then takes runners over the Deutz bridge and along the Rhine past the Chocolate Museum. There is also a half marathon, kids run and relay teams. And of course runners love a big crowd to come and cheer them on, keeping them in forward motion! Traffic will be restricted around the area of the marathon, but public transport will be running. Peasant, Monk and Nobleman. Life in the Middle Ages: The LVR-Landesmuseum Bonn Hands-On Exhibition runs until August 25, 2019. In today’s world, we are surrounded by stories of kings and knights, princes and princesses, and castles with moats and towers. The Middle Ages are in books, in movies and television series. But how did people actually live a thousand years ago? What do scientists know about it? And what do the original medieval objects reveal to us? The exhibition tells the story of seven people who lived during the Middle Ages and there are many objects from that time to help tell the story. The “Blickwechsel II” (“Change of Viewpoint”) exhibit at Craftkontor in Bonn-Bad Godesberg invites visitors to broaden their viewpoints and look ahead without losing sight of tradition. The gallery celebrates its 10th birthday with a presentation of unique works by Karin Bablok (porcelain), Sundari Arlt (wood) and Frieda Dörfer (jewelry). It’s a kind of concept store, a venue for innovative artifacts that regularly presents exhibits dedicated to diverse themes.
