Weather in Bonn and the region Weather service warns of slippery roads

Bonn/Region · Get out those winter woollies! The German Weather Service is warning of freezing fog and lower temperatures this week.

This week will start off cold and rainy. The German Weather Service is warning of slippery road conditions in the Rhine-Sieg area because of freezing fog. There may be light snowfalls in areas over 400 metres.

The weather in Bonn and the region will remain cold and wet during Monday. On Monday night, temperatures will sink to zero degrees, or just below. “Problems due to the weather are also expected in low-lying areas overnight and in the mornings,” says Christoph Hartmann, a meteorologist from the forecasting centre of the Weather Service.

According to the forecast, the snow showers will generally peter out on Tuesday night and the cloud cover will disperse. The lowest temperatures will be between plus 2 and minus 4 degrees. On Wednesday, the cloud cover will increase in the west bringing rain. There will be snow only in mid-level and higher areas. Otherwise it will remain cloudy but generally dry with temperatures rising to around 5 degrees.

“There will be night frosts and slippery conditions over much of Germany during the rest of the week,” says Hartmann. Only the low lying areas in the west and directly on the coast are expected to be free of frost.”
