On the last day of the year, people in Bonn and the region will have to prepare for temperatures at around freezing point. Those who go outside on Tuesday night to ring in the New Year should not forget their scarves and caps.

According to weather forecasts, the sun will not shine through on New Year's Eve day, it will remain rather overcast in the morning. In the course of the day, clouds will move over the region with a maximum temperature of around four degrees Celsius. The German Weather Service (DWD) announced on Monday that there will also be light winds. It is not expected to rain.

In the evening meteorologists expect light clouds and partly foggy conditions. However, the stars should be clearly visible at night, when the clouds have subsided. "The night at the turn of the year often begins clear with stars visible," DWD meteorologist Markus Übel said on Sunday.

During the night temperatures are expected to be between zero and one degree Celsius, with the sun appearing more often on New Year's Day.
