BERLIN The relief when it’s not your own phone or account that’s in trouble! Yet, the frustration when communication is down can be high. Good news though: The technical problems with Facebook, Instagram and WhatsApp have been fixed as far as possible during the night. Twitter also reported that it’s back. Users worldwide were affected.
A Facebook spokesperson confirmed to the German Press Agency that they were working on restoring normal operations as quickly as possible. All three services - Facebook, Instagram and WhatsApp - belong to the Facebook group. According to the website "allestörungen.de", the problems were solved in the early hours of the morning.
Twitter, which was affected by disruptions, also reported that it’s back. "We're almost back to 100 percent," Twitter said on his own page. There may still be "residual effects" for a few users, but the service should generally "function properly" again.
According to the website "allestörungen.de", users in Germany, Great Britain, France and the Benelux countries were particularly affected. In addition, disturbances were reported on the east coast of the USA as well as in parts of southern Europe and South America.
In March of this year, there had already been several hours of disruption to the platforms used worldwide. At that time, Facebook, the Messenger chat service and the Instagram network were affected.
Twitter was also affected on Wednesday. "We are currently experiencing problems with the delivery of direct messages and notifications," the company said via its official support account. "We are working on a solution and will get back to you as soon as we have an update."
