24th Bonn Beer Exchange in the Rheinaue

Next weekend, inhabitants of Bonn will again be able to travel across all continents – without having to leave the city at all. Because: For the 24th time now, the Bonn Beer Exchange will take place in the Rheinaue from Friday to Sunday, 26 to 28 July. The landlords will be presenting 700 types of beer from breweries all over the world. This time Guildo Horn will not perform.

Bike on the Ring

The Nürburgring is firmly in the hands of cyclists this weekend. Then the engines fall silent, because at the event “Rad am Ring” the power comes from the muscles. The most spectacular discipline is the 24-hour race in various categories on the legendary Nordschleife (photo). It can also happen more moderately: accompanied training drives on the race track are on offer for visitors. Workshops and presentations form the supporting programme. 25,000 visitors are expected.

The Simon & Garfunkel Story

The tribute show “The Simon & Garfunkel Story” on Friday and Saturday at the Cologne Musical Dome invites you to a journey back in time to the 1960s. The story told in music leads from the first musical steps over the success as one of the best selling music groups of the 1960s up to the separation in 1970.

23rd Burgundy Festival in Bad Neuenahr

Everyone finds a place on hundreds of straw bales.

Close to nature and in the middle of the vineyards, the Burgundy Festival will be celebrated on Saturday, 27 July, above Bad Neuenahr. The wineries Sonnenberg, Burggarten and Lingen invite wine lovers to put on their hiking boots.

From 12 am to 4 pm, visitors have the opportunity to hike along the red-wine trail from Ahrweiler to the fairground in Bad Neuenahr. Small tasting and snack stands line the path. The stage on the Festwiese will be open from 5 pm. There the PGM big band invites you to dance into the night. The fresh, bright and full-bodied red Ahrburgundy wines are accompanied by rustic food.

Bonn – Gateway to the Romantic Rhine

“Bonn – the gateway to the romantic Rhine” is the title of a combined city and ship tour. The tour lasts about three hours and promises an exciting voyage of discovery through Bonn and the surrounding area. The tour starts with a short tour of the city, followed by a tour on the Rhine past numerous sights.

Where: The meeting point is at Bonn-Information, Windeckstraße 1 / Münsterplatz.

The comedy “Brandheiß – will be extinguished later” by Jette Findeisen can be seen for the last time this weekend in the Contra Kreis Theater. The play tells the story of Klaus, Claas and Hans, the last volunteer firemen from Drottelfeld. They are not only without offspring and without women, but – even worse – also without an emergency vehicle.

The organisers of the Poppelsdorfer Schlosskonzerte promise a musical journey to the south on Saturday. Debussy’s Children’s Corner and Chaminades Concertino for flute and orchestra will be performed in the Arkadenhof of the University of Bonn. If the weather is not good, the concert will take place in the auditorium of the university.

Maritimes songs from the Bonner Shanty-Chor can be heard on Sunday in Bad Godesberg. The choir – the singing partnership of two naval comrades from Bonn – has been in existence since 1987 and brings a piece of inland seafaring to the Stadthall terrace in the Kurkonzert.

Jacob’s market in Remagen

A huge crowd at the Jacob's market in Remagen.

More than 250 flying dealers and showmen are expected on Sunday in the city centre and along the banks of the Rhine in Remagen. Last weekend the market lured crowds of visitors into the city under the motto “Op dem Maat jidd et (fas) alles”. The Jacob's Market is part of the Apollinaris pilgrimage in Remagen. The shops in the city centre are also open from 1 pm to 6 pm.

Goethe’s Gardens

A replica of Goethe’s “Stone of Good Fortune” stands on the roof of the Bundeskunsthalle.

Goethe is well known to most as a poet, but Goethe is less well known as a gardener and botanist. High above the Bundesviertel, the Bundeskunsthalle and the Klassik Stiftung Weimar have created two gardens based on Goethe’s model. The complex “Goethe's Gardens – Green Worlds on the Roof of the Federal Art Hall” is part of a large Goethe exhibition.
