May 30 - June 2 Tips for the long weekend in Bonn and the region

BONN/REGION · A popular British style home and garden show called Landpartie and the well-visited Museum Mile Festival are just a couple of events happening on this long weekend. Have a peek and see what else is going on!

Landpartie at Adendorf Castle

Landpartie: This extremely popular “English” home and garden show kicks off on Thursday, May 30 and runs through Sunday, June 2. Visitors can escape to the countryside and take in the Adendorf Castle and grounds. It offers a perfect setting for the lifestyle fair. More than 180 exhibitors, vendors and artists will transform the castle area into "a land of good taste" say the organizers. On offer will be fashion, jewelry, furnishings and horticulture. There is also floral artwork planted in the courtyard by florist Mehmet Yilmaz. At the Hall of Ancestors, talented young musicians will perform in Beethoven@Home from Thursday to Saturday at 12:00 and 3:30pm. The entrance fee is 15 euros. Museum Mile Festival

Bonn Museum Mile Fest: The five museums on the Bonn Museum Mile are celebrating their annual festival once again. Featuring art, culture, technology and ecology - there will be something for everyone. On June 1 and 2, the Deutsches Museum, Bundeskunsthalle, Kunstmuseum, Haus der Geschichte and Museum Koenig will together offer a colorful and varied program for the Museum Mile Festival. Besides live music, food and refreshments, there will be lots of activities for children and many interactive stands.

Dixieland Jazz at the Rheinaue for Father’s Day

Pim Toscani's Jazz Allstars: Dixieland jazz, swing & mainstream music are all part of the Father's Day Special at the beer garden of the Park Restaurant Rheinaue. If the weather is nice, this could make for a fun and relaxed afternoon. (0228) 374030

Scandinavian Film Days Bonn

Jazzfest Bonn

Jazzfest Bonn on Friday: Double concert featuring the Monika Roscher Bigband, named “Newcomer of the Year” in Echo magazine and awarded the Bavarian Art Support Prize, and Mezzoforte, the Icelandic group whose song “Garden Party” achieved fame in 1983. The group has gone on to become an important Fusion band in Europe, and features some original members and new ones, bringing lots of exciting energy along. Cicerone -- Knights and Castles:

It’s family day - and families with children are invited to interact with the current exhibition on knights and castles. There is also a new hands-on area for children and grown-ups (The Romans in Bonn) where they have a chance to experience how Bonn and the Rhine landscape looked 2,000 years ago. Kölscher Open Air Evening

Cologne dialect open air concert: The Kölsch dialect from Cologne may not sound exactly like the German you learn in language classes but it is for sure an important part of the culture here in the Rhineland - for sure something to experience if you want to do like the locals. This open air event features the extremely popular bands Bläck Fööss, Cat Ballou, Klüngelköpp and Jeckediz in beautiful park surroundings.

Late Night Art Special at Museumplatz

“Kunstnacht am Museumsplatz”: Dance your way into the art cosmos and celebrate the Kunstnacht (art night). Two museums, 8 exhibitions, and guided speed tours. Music at the Bundeskunsthalle (Nat’l Art Museum) featuring: DJ, PERCUSSION, DANCE AND LOUNGE. Live music at the Kunstmuseum (Art Museum) features: 80's beats with Darius Darek and percussion by Gabriel Andrés Tobar Gaete. Plus "The Triological Quartet" - Lindy Hop and Swing Music. The special night of art goes until midnight. Concert for small children

Seat cushion concert 3: "A musical journey into the city", for children from three to five years-old, in the foyer. Uncle Tobi's going into town to run errands. On his way he meets some acquaintances who want things from the city. And so Tobi has to bring more and more things from the city. Thanks to rhymes and musical melodies, Tobi remembers ... whether he didn't forget anything? (in German) The concert lasts 40 minutes without intermission.
