The German Weather Service warned on Monday morning of stormy gusts and up to 20 centimetres of fresh snow during the day. They said the snowfall line is at around 200 metres. However, with temperatures of between 3 and 6 degrees, the snow will not remain for long. Heavy snowfalls and slippery roads caused several accidents during rush hour on Monday. The WDR traffic studio reported around 315 kilometres of traffic jams and slow-moving traffic.

Snow was clearly visible mainly in the upper Sieg in Eitdorf and Windeck. The snow here also caused icy roads in the early morning.

The weather for the rest of the week looks similarly grey and cold. Temperatures will occasionally drop to around zero. Snow should be continually expected in hilly areas. In lower areas, there will only be sleet, however. The wind will also drop noticeably. At the end of the week, the cloud cover will also clear.
