Company advises password change Passwords from Telekom customers discovered in Internet

Bonn · Some Telekom customers are being advised to change their passwords due to some login information being compromised.

Login information from some customers of Deutsche Telekom has surfaced in the internet. Telekom is advising a change of passwords.

A sample of about 90 combinations of T-online mail addresses and passwords have shown that some authentic data from customers is out on the internet. Telekom communicated this information on Monday. It is estimated that around 64,000 to 120,000 records are affected.

Telekom emphasizes that there is no evidence of hacking in their system. It is suspected that the data were obtained through Phishing attacks. Many companies have been affected and that supports this theory. Information released says that customers who have been affected by the attack have been notified by Telekom. (Orig. text: dpa)
