Closure in the past week Partial closure at Bonn central station ends

Bonn · The partial closure at Bonn Central Station is over. The work was completed overnight into Monday. The trains are now running to the station again as normal.

According to a spokesman for Deutsche Bahn (DB - German Rail), the planned construction work at Bonn's main railway station has been completed on schedule. A partial closure was necessary while the work was being carried out. As of Monday, local and long-distance trains have been running again according to the normal timetable.

The DB had worked on the switches and tracks and the extension of platform 3 to track 4 until Monday morning at midnight. During this time only the Regionalexpress 5 stopped at the main station. In order to compensate for the loss of the other trains, Nahverkehr Rheinland had provided a substitute rail service between Bonn Central Station and Bornheim-Roisdorf through Transregio and additional trains from Beuel Station to Cologne. The Bonn station will be completely renovated by the end of 2020.
