Friedrichstraße One of the nicest pedestrian zones

Friedrichstraße in Bonn’s inner city received a special designation recently. Ten years of transformation seems to have paid off for both businesses and customers.

Friedrichstrasse is one of the ten most beautiful pedestrian zones in Germany. That's according to the German magazine Geo, which is similar to the English language National Geographic magazine, known for its photos and reports about places worldwide.

Although Friedrichstrasse was long considered to be the backyard of Bonn's city center, it has become a showcase example of how a German inner city could develop after a ten-year refurbishment and subsequent reopening in 2007, says the magazine.

Since then, owner-operated businesses have clearly made their mark, standing out from the rest of the city center. In addition to clothing stores and boutiques, here you will also find furniture stores, specialty food shops and fine dining. Friedrichstrasse also has many lifestyle shops which attract visitors.
