On Saturday evening, specialists from the Explosive Ordnance Disposal Service defused and removed a one-hundredweight bomb from the Second World War in Kottenforst near Buschhoven. A person with a metal detector had located the bomb near the Roman canal outcrop at about 6.30 pm.

The Buschhoven fire brigade cordoned off the site during the defusing operation. Citizens did not have to be evacuated because the site was far away from residential buildings.
