Bonn Balloon Festival Night glow in the Rheinaue attracts 5000 visitors

Bonn · 25 teams from Germany, the Netherlands and Great Britain took part in the ninth Bonn Balloon Festival. The night glow on Saturday night was a highlight.

It was a perfect scene as the full moon rose over the ninth Bonn Balloon Festival in the Rheinaue on Saturday night. Almost like a fourteenth balloon, it lit up the park meadow at the end of the night glow, bringing the balmy summer evening to a melancholy close. The around 5000 spectators thanked the balloonists, who had travelled from several different countries, by applauding for a long time at the end of the 20 minute light spectacular.

Simone Gruner of the organising team Skytours Ballooning was also extremely pleased, saying: “It has never been this busy here. And it was ideal that we could make so many balloon trips in the fantastic weather.” More than 10,000 visitors came to the festival over the three days. It is also gaining in popularity with teams from the region. “I have noticed ever increasing popularity among participants,” said Matthias Habel from the Bonn Wetteronline balloon team.

Of course, he could not predict whether the weather will be as perfect for the tenth festival next year. (Original text: Ingo Firley. Translated by Kate Carey.)
