As the municipal authorities of Bornheim reported on request, there had been a longitudinal crack of several metres in the pipeline. The pipeline is currently being uncovered. Then the damage will be examined and repaired. How long this will take is unclear. According to Stadtbetriebe, the work could continue until the evening. The crack has consequences for residents in the Bornheim villages from Bornheim itself to Walberberg. New study finds: Living in Bonn is particularly expensive

Bonn. Around 520 new apartments are to be built on the site of the former Gallwitz barracks. Text:BONN. Living in Bonn does not only feel expensive. As a comparative study by Berlin social scientists on all 77 major German cities conducted in the spring shows now, Bonn is at the top of the league in terms of housing costs for tenants. It should be noted that this does not include the net cold rent, ancillary housing costs and individual energy consumption. The 30 percent threshold is considered critical because above it there is only little money available for other expenditures. This cost burden even affects considerably more tenants in percentage terms in Bonn (45.8) than in Stuttgart (38.2), Munich (40.5), Hamburg (42.8) or Berlin (43.8). Only in Cologne (46.4), Bremerhaven (46.5), Bremen (47.5) and Neuss (49) there are, according to the study, even more people affected in percentage terms. "And that is only a statistical value. Many tenants pay considerably more", says Bernhard von Grünberg, Chairman of the Tenants' Association Bonn/Rhine/Sieg/Ahr.

Donations handed over for pub owner: cause of fire in "Weihers Eck" still unclear

Bonn. After the fire in the restaurant and hotel "Weihers Eck" in the old town of Bonn, there was good news for the owner thanks to donations. But the cause of the fire is still unclear. 2575 Euro have been raised in a fundraising campaign initiated by Kristian Wiegand for Cemil Okatan. On Friday the owner of the restaurant and hotel "Weihers Eck" received the money. At the end of June, a fire broke out in the roof truss of the Maxstraße building. Six hotel guests were injured in the fire and the roof truss was completely destroyed. The cause is still unclear, the premises will remain closed until further notice. "What the fire failed to do was destroyed by the water masses," Okatan said.
