Bonn restaurant scene New start at the Remise
Bonn · The Remise is under new management. Farshad Makhshavani is from Cologne and is taking over the running of the ‘Oscar’ restaurant in the Remise.
Farshad Nakhshavani, who runs the ‘Oscar’ restaurant in Apropos in Cologne, has now taken over the management of the Remise near the Post Tower, making the restaurant in the former coach house ‘Oscar’ in the Remise. The upscale and extravagant rooms, in which nothing has been changed, can accommodate 150 guests and the idyllic garden terrace offers another 240 seats. There is also an adjacent children’s playground and a basketball court. The eye-catching boutique bar ‘La Grande Dame’ in the interior is an exact replica of the private bar of the Veuve Clicquot family in Reims, France. Three specially employed barkeepers will now look after guests’ cocktails and long drinks behind the Bonn replica.
Azadeh Arabi from the new Oscar management team, describes the fusion food on the new menu as follows: “It is a combination of different food cultures.” Examples include the noble fish soup with yellow-fin tuna, king salmon, prawns and vegetables (Euro 12.90), grilled octopus with a tomato and paprika concasse, avocado aioli and olive tapenade (Euro 17.50), the Oscar’s Caesar salad with chicken breast fillet (Euro 17.50) or Taglierini Alba with black truffle salsa, shellfish stock, baked rocket, cherry tomatoes and parmesan (Euro 21.90). There is also a premium truffle burger with truffle cream, truffle cheese, summer truffles, salad and sweet potato fries (Euro 19.50), housemade shredded pancake (Euro 11.50) and a separate sushi menu – the restaurant now has a sushi expert on the kitchen team.
The winelist offers 17 wines by the glass (0.15 litre) from Euro 6 and 69 wines by the bottle from Euro 27 – from pinot gris from Dreissigacker (Rheinhessen) to Grange from Penfolds (South Australia).
Nakhshavani and his team are also planning regular live music, wine tastings and winery presentations. It will be closed on Sundays until next spring but from March will offer a Sunday brunch (in addition to an evening service).
