COLOGNE A new hotel will be coming to Cologne/Bonn Airport in 2021, with a capacity of 250 rooms. It will be a Moxy Hotel, a new international line of hotels from Marriott.
It’s already been known for some time that a hotel will be built at Cologne/Bonn Airport, but on Tuesday, new details were revealed. Cologne real estate investment and project development company, Art-Invest Real Estate will build and operate a Moxy Hotel opposite Terminal 1.
According to the airport, construction is scheduled to begin at the end of 2019, with the opening scheduled for autumn of 2021. The new hotel will have 250 rooms, a conference and meeting area, a restaurant and fitness facilities. According to the airport, the investment is around 35 million euros. "The construction of the hotel is a major benefit for the airport. It is also an important step in the development of our land here, which has great potential," says Johan Vanneste, CEO of the airport.
“Moxy Hotels” is a new Marriott brand, described by travel writers as an affordable millennial-friendly boutique hotel. In Troisdorf, which is not too far from the airport, another Moxy Hotel is currently being built. It will have 126 rooms and is expected to open in 2020.
