Birgit Alexander-Monteiro and her daughter Sarah Monteiro moved with their restaurant called „Mademoiselle“ - from the small bistro-type place in the Euskirchener Straße they moved to a bigger venue in the Magdalenenstraße, close to the Harmonie. „We grew out of the other place“, says mother Birgit about the old address. „And our aspirations have grown too.“

Logically, the add-on to the restaurant name, „Petite Cuisine“, was removed. But the menu still looks familiar: „We are staying Alsatian, but explore the whole of France.“ The new restaurant has light coloured wooden furniture, red seat cushions and a lounge with grey winged chairs - and seats approximately 30.

On the menu there are over 15 taste flambées, starting from 8.50 Euro, like the „Alsacienne“ (ham, tomatoes, onions, Creme fraiche, herbs) for 11.90 Euro. There is also Foie Gras de Canard (15.90 Euro), Bourride (fish stew) à la Mademoiselle (16.90 Euro), Bouchée à la reine (queen’s paté with chicken, salat and chips) for 15.90 Euro and as dessert a trilogy of ring cakes for 8.90 Euro. In addition, the restaurant serves weekly changing specials. „We cook seasonal food, regional, organic and with fair-trade products. There is no convenience food, everything’s fresh and à la minute.“

The beer offers include Zunft Kölsch (0.2l for 1.90 Euro), Bergisches Landbier (0.3l, 2.90 Euro) as well as Alsatian beers like Fischer Pils (0.6l for 7.90 Euro) and Meteor Lager (0.2l for 3.90 Euro).

The wine menu lists eleven open wines (0.2l) starting from 6.90 Euro, like the Pinotin from the Michael Fiebrich vineyard (Mayschoß), and 13 bottled wines starting from 20.70 Euro.

It is worth it to try the Crémants d'Alsace from the organic vineyard Eblin Fuchs in Zellenberg (Alsace): Brut 8.50 Euro, Rosé 8.90 Euro, 0.2l each) and the Calvados specialties from Château du Breuil.
