At the roundabout Austraße/Brundhildtstraße near the ferry in Königswinter/Mehlem a hole of approximately two square meters opened up in the road unexpectedly. The hole is about one meter deep and has a diameter of approximately two meters at the surface. Why it appeared is not yet clear, according to Marc Hoffmann, deputy spokesperson of the city council in Bonn.
A collapsing sewage canal is suspected but cannot be confirmed yet. On Monday, an additional examination of the hole will take place. Until then the spot at the roundabout will be closed off by the civil engineering office. Traffic flow should notbe affected.
