Factory swimming pool in Essen

The Werkschwimmbad (factory swimming pool) in a former industrial complex, which is part of the Unesco World Heritage, may not be one of the largest pools, but it is certainly one of most unusual in Germany. It is located in Essen, just over an hour from Bonn. In the North Rhine-Westphalia summer holidays, visitors there can cool off, sunbathe and relax every day from 12 noon until 8pm in the unique pool designed by artists (in 2001). A visit to the pool is free. The 2.40 meter deep pool is only suitable for swimmers, and there is a lifeguard on site.
