Opening hours and how to take part Flea market season opens in the Rheinaue

Bonn · Whether you have old treasures to sell or just want to take a stroll through the park and browse - the Rheinaue flea market is the place to go. On Saturday, it’s time for the first flea market of the 2018 season.

Bargain hunters and sellers alike will be happy come Saturday, March 17 when the first flea market of the season gets underway at the Rheinaue park. On a stretch of four kilometers, visitors can browse through the many stands where sellers offer their wares. The area around Ludwig-Erhard-Allee will once again become the focal point for junk dealers and visitors from the entire region.

The flea market is put on eight times a year and it is one of the largest and most popular flea markets in the region. And for those who want to either snap up a bargain or offer their own items for sale, this will be possible every third Saturday of the month from March through October.

Here’s how to take part

If you want to take part in the Rheinaue flea market by selling your own items, better hurry because the stands are highly sought after - even if the days are gone when a seller used to stake out their territory a day in advance. A reservation can be made either online or on site. There are sufficient parking spaces reserved for those who are rather spontaneous in joining. An online map of the flea market shows the places that are still available for reservation: www.flohmarkt-rheinaue.de

Price/stand rental: seven euros per meter of the longest sales front

Deposit: Cleaning deposit of ten euros (refund only on the day of the event from 8 to 18 o'clock)

Reserving a stand: this can be done until the Friday preceding the flea market, either online until 1pm: www.flohmarkt-rheinaue.de or on site from 9:30 am until 3 pm, five euros booking fee, the stand is then reserved for 7 am on the Saturday of the flea market

Set-up: the flea market is built up on the Friday preceding the flea market, beginning at 4 pm

For sellers, it is prudent to be early on Saturday morning. Because no vehicles are allowed to drive in the Rheinaue park, the parking spaces at the site and in the immediate vicinity for loading and unloading the goods and flea market tables are highly sought after. In recent years, the 200 parking spaces offered free of charge at the Post Tower have been well-received by visitors. Many prefer to take the tram, Line 66 stops at the middle of the Rheinaue.

On the third Saturday of each month, from 8 am to 6 pm, sellers will be offering their wares, whether antiques, clothes, CDs, records or toys - nearly everything can be found at the Rheinaue flea market. The main rule is that no new goods may be sold. Anyone who is not selling used items typically found at flea markets will be asked to leave.

It’s not clear yet if the weather will cooperate this Saturday for the season opener. But in the past, a little drizzle has never kept bargain hunters away.
