Residents raised the alarm Fire brigade digs up grave in Siegburg woods

Siegburg · The Siegburg police and the fire brigade moved out on Tuesday evening to find a possible corpse. A walker had presumably discovered a grave at the edge of a forest. However, no one was buried there.

Early Tuesday evening, a walker discovered a grave on the edge of the forest in Jean-Dohle-Straße in Siegburg. During his walk he saw a heaped up mound of earth with a cross and a grave light on it. Worried that there might be a human body there, he alerted the police and fire brigade.

The task forces examined the site of the find in the immediate vicinity of the Hit Trading Group's headquarters and excavated the grave. There they found a dead cat. This cat had apparently been buried there by its owner and the grave had been equipped with a cross and a grave light. The earth mound was piled up again over the cat by the task forces. The cross and the grave light were collected by the fire brigade according to GA information, so that not even more walkers are irritated by the grave place.

Basically the burial of a dead cat is allowed only on private property, if it is not in a water protection area. Even if the cat suffered from an infectious disease, the animal must not be buried in its own garden. However, if the cat is buried in a public forest, a heavy fine may be imposed.
