Uni/Markt tram stop Duo robs 20-year-old

BONN · Early Sunday morning, two men robbed a 20-year-old at the Uni/Markt tram stop in Bonn city center. One of them punched the victim in the face.

Thieves used the so-called “Antanz-Trick” on a 20-year-old man who was at the Uni/Markt tram stop overnight from Saturday to Sunday. It was around 1:30 am on Sunday morning when the two men began speaking to the 20-year-old, one of them prancing up to him and stealing his cell phone from his pants pocket.

When the 20-year-old noticed they had taken his phone, he confronted the duo and one of them punched him in the face. A witness had alarmed police and the victim was able to detain one of the thieves until police officers arrived. The accomplice, who fled with the phone has not been found. The only information about him is that he was wearing a dark jacket.

The 27-year-old who was detained was under the influence of alcohol and he was known to police. In agreement with the Bonn public prosecutor’s office, police let him go after they had completed their first legal measures.
