100 kilos of cocaine seized in Hamburg Drugs from record find destined for Bonn
Bonn/Hamburg · A 38-year-old Moroccan from Bad Godesberg was arrested after the discovery of 100 kilograms of cocaine in Hamburg. The authorities have been watching him and the gangs with contacts in Belgium and Morocco since April.
The police had recently seized 100 kilograms of cocaine in the port of Hamburg. One of the gang's chiefs is from Bad Godesberg: The 38-year-old Moroccan was arrested by the police on December 13. Previous investigations have shown that the internationally active perpetrators planned the long-term and regular import of large quantities of cocaine from South America to Germany by ship or plane. According to GA information, they were also destined for the Bonn drug market.
The police and the public prosecutor's office describe the find as a "blow against international drug smuggling". The alleged perpetrators, who are still under investigation, had hidden the drugs in banana boxes on a cargo ship coming from Ecuador. The market value of the 102 cocaine packages: about six million Euro. Since April, officials have been monitoring the Moroccan, who had several contacts in Germany, Belgium and Morocco. They were professional and used encrypted means of communication.
"The investigations are now concentrating on the identification of accomplices and backers as well as on the destination of the cocaine," says Ralf Keppler of the Baden-Württemberg State Criminal Police Office, which cooperates with the authorities in Bonn and Hamburg. The presumed drug dealer, who is in custody, has not made any statements so far. Among other things, the police seized evidence such as mobile phones, a notebook and documents in his apartment and at his workplace in Bad Godesberg.
