For Niklas P. Corpus Christi procession draws hundreds

BAD GODESBERG · It was a religious day of obligation for some but for many, they came to mourn Niklas and demonstrate in unity against violence.

Several hundred people took part in a Corpus Christi procession on Thursday. It began with a gathering at 10 a.m. on Panoramaplatz in Bad Godesberg where participants had a view of the Siebengebirge (Seven mountains). At the procession were friends and family of Niklas P., the 17-year-old youth from Bad Breisig. They sat in the front row during a mass given by Father Wolfgang Picken. He emphasized again that something must be done in the wake of the deadly attack on Niklas.

After the mass, the crowd, including mass servers, set off on a procession. The procession was also viewed as a “Demonstration against violence and for love of fellow man”. It took the marchers past the spot where Niklas was fatally injured. People prayed silently there and it was as still and quiet as could be. The procession ended at Herz Jesu Church.
