You have probably never seen the animals of the Cologne Zoo like this: The keepers wore a head-mounted camera and filmed their daily work. The outcome: An unusual video clip.

The short film which the Zoo published on its Facebook page, offers insights into the animals compounds and shows how the animal keepers handle and treat their proteges. „The clip is a small homage to our zoo keepers and their high motivation“, say the zoo executives Theo B. Pagel and Christopher Landsberg. „The video shows clearly, how laborious the work with animals often is and how complex the training and activity programs in zoos are nowadays.“

Several animals and keepers’ tasks are shown - for example how bull elephant „Rajendra“ lifts his feet on command to have them cleaned or pedicured. The filming was done over approximately two weeks, according to the zoo’s press release. In the zoo in Cologne there are about 10,000 animals, from more than 850 species.

95 zoo keepers work daily with them. In addition, there are biologists who also advise national and international authorities and scientific institutions.
