WDR television competition BonnVoice wins title "Best Choir in the West"

Köln/Bonn · At the WDR casting show "The best choir in the West" the choir "BonnVoice" won the final. The Aachen choir "Flow" took second place in the competition.

In the final of the last five participants Bonn, Cologne and Aachen finally made it to the last three choirs, for which the TV viewers could vote by telephone and text message. The "musical kids" Rheinhausen from Duisburg and the choir community Voßwinkel-Höingen had already been eliminated after round one.

In the viewers’ voting the Bonn singers were then chosen as the winner with 49.3 percent. "Flow" from Aachen (39.1 percent) came in second and "Die Erben" from Cologne (11.6 percent) came in third.

The Bonn choir "BonnVoice" had already won one of the five coveted final places at the WDR casting show "The Best Choir in the West" last Friday in the semi-final. While the TV viewers voted for four other choirs, the singers from the Beethoven city first reached the final by wildcard selection of the jury. Ten choirs took part in the live broadcast in Cologne-Bocklemünd.

The WDR jury included Natalie Horler (front woman of Cascada), Jane Comerford (university lecturer and lead singer of Texas Lightning), Rolf Schmitz-Malburg (WDR radio choir) and Giovanni Zarrella (singer and presenter).

Aachen choir "Flow" inspires the jury, but viewers vote for "BonnVoice"

The decision as to which choir would finally win the competition was up to the viewers, who could vote by telephone and SMS.

In the opinion of the jury, the Aachen choir "Flow" was a nose ahead, but in the end the singers of "BonnVoice" were happy about the 10.000 Euro prize and the ticket to participate in the international competition "Eurovision choir of the year" in Gothenburg, Sweden.
