Police chase Audi driver crashes into parked cars

Bonn · There was a loud bang in the night when a car crashed into vehicles parked on Endenicher Straße, causing much damage.

Residents on Endenicher Straße were awoken in the night by a loud bang beneath their windows. The driver of an Audi crashed into two parked cars at around 2 a.m. Sunday morning while apparently trying to evade a police control.

On Sunday, police said they had stopped the car for an inspection at the corner of Maximilianstraße and Am Hauptbahnhof. When police officers got out of their vehicle, the Audi sped off. The officers gave chase and discovered the car a short time later at Endenicher Straße - without a driver or any passengers.

It appears the driver of the black Audi Q7 lost control of his car, veered off to the right and crashed into the parked cars. A VW Golf was hit and it banged into the exterior of the apartment building, causing damage to the facade and rain gutters. The accident also caused the Golf to hit a red Renault Twingo, pushing it into a street sign where bikes had been locked up. The fully damaged vehicle had to be towed away.

Police began an immediate search for occupant(s) of the vehicle. A 21-year-old was found and police are investigating if and how he might have been involved in the accident. Any witnesses who may have observed the accident or have information about the occupants of the Audi Q7 are asked to contact police: (0228 - 150)
