A4 to be closed at the weekend A59 blocked at Heumar junction
Cologne · Before the A4 is closed in both directions between the junction Heumar and the junction Gremberg on the weekend of 21 to 23 June, there will be a closure of the A59 at the junction Heumar on Wednesday. Reasons are construction works.
During an accident recording on Tuesday afternoon, road damage was found on the A59 from Bonn in the direction of Cologne between the motorway junction Cologne-Porz and the junction Heumar. This was announced by the Kölner Stadtanzeiger. These must be repaired immediately, which is why the roadway has been completely closed since Tuesday. The closureis to last into the night to Thursday.
As announced by the responsible state agency Strassen NRW on Tuesday, the Autobahn 4 will also be closed from Friday evening at 8 p.m. until Sunday morning at 10 a.m. and then again from Sunday at 9 p.m. until Monday at 5 a.m., both in the direction of Aachen and in the direction of Olpe. The A4 between Heumar and Gremberg will then not be passable in either direction. The return traffic on Sunday, 23 June, will not be affected: From 10 a.m. to 9 p.m. all lanes will be opened for traffic, according to Straßen NRW.
Both in the direction of Aachen and in the direction of Olpe, the detours will be via the A59 (Cologne/Bonn Airport). Thesewill be set up and signposted in good time.
Again restrictions on A4 direction Aachen
The reason for the complete closure is the dismantling of the Frankfurter Straße/B8 overpass in Cologne. Traffic on the B8 will be routed over an existing makeshift bridge until the new bridge is built.
The weekend of 28 June to 30 June will also see restrictions on traffic on the A4 in the direction of Aachen, according to a press release. These will be announced in good time.
