Meckenheim · The autobahn 565 will be closed between the junctions of Merl and Meckenheim-North from July 28 - 30. A pedestrian bridge overhead will be demolished during this time, preventing traffic from flowing beneath it.

The autobahn 565 will be closed this coming weekend between Merl and Meckenheim-North in both directions. The NRW state roadworks made the announcement on Tuesday. The closure will be in effect from Saturday, July 28 at 6pm to Monday, July 30 at 5am. There will be a detour which runs along Meckenheim Allee and Gudenauer Allee to the next junction where one can get on the A565.

Structural damage was found to the pedestrian and bicycle bridge and that is why authorities decided to tear it down. A new bridge will be built in its place. Until then, pedestrians and cyclists will need to use the bike path and walkway on Gudenauer Allee to cross the autobahn.
