The police and the city of Cologne warn the population against taking a life-threatening glucose mixture. Already in the past week a 28-year-old woman and her child born by emergency cesarean section died according to a report on the incident.

A doctor reported this and another incident to the police last Thursday. The other patient, who had the same drug given to her doctor on prescription, also had complications. She felt uncomfortable and stopped taking it before she had consumed the full amount.

The authorities have issued an explicit warning against taking any medication containing glucose that has been manufactured and handed out at the Heilig Geist Pharmacy at Graseggerstraße 105 in Longerich. Anyone who still has such preparations in their possession is urgently requested to hand them over to the nearest police station. According to the current state of investigation, only drugs manufactured in this pharmacy are affected.

Police have seized evidence during searches, and the City Council of Cologne has prohibited the pharmacist from selling drugs produced by himself until the facts of the case have been clarified. A homicide commission has been brought in for running the investigation.
