Bonn · The fact that pregnant women in Bonn may not be accompanied by their partner to the birth has caused great indignation. The local hospitals with obstetrics have now relaxed this regulation.

As the GFO clinics announced on Monday on their website, expectant mothers in the St. Marien hospital are now allowed to be accompanied to the delivery room again. For a short time this had not been possible to stop the spread of the coronavirus, which has caused criticism from pregnant women as well as expectant fathers. This decision was also reversed by other hospitals in Bonn. Later on Monday evening, the Bonn University Hospital stated on its website that visits under special conditions were again possible. These regulations also apply to the Johanniter hospital and the Gemeinschaftskrankenhaus Bonn.

A new decree of the state ministry allows the hospitals to slightly loosen the ban on visits. The Bonn maternity hospitals had been looking for "a practicable way that takes into account the necessary protection of people in hospital, while at the same time allowing for a narrowly limited possibility of accompaniment“.

According to this, it is now possible in the Bonn clinics that provide obstetrics to take a caregiver into the delivery room. The risk of infection with the coronavirus is to be minimised through strict regulations:
