There was another fire in the Bonn town council house on Monday afternoon. The fire brigade was alerted at 4.16 p.m., according to deputy head of office Carsten Schneider. In the third basement below parking level 2, there had been a strong smoke development. An evacuation alarm was sounded and the building was evacuated. Both professional fire brigades and voluntary fire brigades from the city area deployed 70 people. They quickly got a grip on the fire, Schneider said. The evacuation alarm was quickly lifted. "After that we started with the ventilation.“

As reported, the townhouse had to be evacuated for hours last Thursday. It had burned in a file archive room, which, as the press office reported on request, was not part of the city archive. "Files from all kinds of different offices were stored there," explained Isabel Klotz from the press office. Also on Monday no rooms of the archive were affected. The cause of both fires has not yet been clarified. According to police spokesman Markus Beyer, the police are investigating in all directions.

A leading city employee told the GA in the evening that arson was relatively probable from his point of view. For the fire on Thursday, a technical defect could be ruled out as the cause. Upon request, Andreas Leinhaas, head of the personnel office, explained: "We have to worry about the security situation.“
