Independent Bonn International School Car concert closes out the IBIS school year for 40 students

Bonn · There are 40 school-leavers at Independent Bonn International School (IBIS) this year and they have already received their school reports, as have all other students. Despite the corona pandemic, school principal Philip Wharton and his team wanted to leave the 9 to 13-year-olds with a very special memory of their school days at IBIS on the Heiderhof.

On Friday evening, about 40 cars drove up to the school grounds. Students and parents listened to speeches and also live music from Matt Sonnicksen, who offered rock and pop, tuned in on the car radios.

According to deputy city spokesman Marc Hoffmann, it has been the only "private" car concert so far, and it had been approved by city authorities after they reviewed the hygiene and event planning. According to IBIS staff member Fatema Ansary-Fria, the students were from 16 different countries. "Six are transferring to Bonn International School, four are returning to the USA and two to Korea, two are going to other secondary schools in NRW", said Ansary-Fria. All the other graduates will attend schools in Bad Godesberg and Bonn after the summer holidays.
