Bonn Pariskrit Jung Karki and his wife Prapti Ghimire-Karki were both born in Nepal and have now opened a restaurant in Bonn’s Friesdorf district with specialities from their native country.
The name Aago means "fire" in Nepalese and refers to the fact that in the Himalayas many dishes are prepared in clay pots over an open flame. The young couple sees itself as a kind of ambassador of their native country: "We want to bring Nepal closer to our guests and show that this country is worth a visit", explains Prapti Ghimire-Karki. And he also gives a glimpse into the flavor of the kitchen: "We usually serve our food mildly spiced - in Nepal they don't eat as spicy as in India".
75 guests can be comfortably accommodated in both rooms. The table is decorated with traditional Nepalese cloths and wooden decorative elements from Nepal's religious background. Two large-format acrylic paintings show a column of yaks loaded with salt and passing through a snow-covered Himalayan pass, as well as a temple complex in Karki’s birthplace Bhaktapur. An inner courtyard terrace will be opened next spring.
