The name Aago means "fire" in Nepalese and refers to the fact that in the Himalayas many dishes are prepared in clay pots over an open flame. The young couple sees itself as a kind of ambassador of their native country: "We want to bring Nepal closer to our guests and show that this country is worth a visit", explains Prapti Ghimire-Karki. And he also gives a glimpse into the flavor of the kitchen: "We usually serve our food mildly spiced - in Nepal they don't eat as spicy as in India".

75 guests can be comfortably accommodated in both rooms. The table is decorated with traditional Nepalese cloths and wooden decorative elements from Nepal's religious background. Two large-format acrylic paintings show a column of yaks loaded with salt and passing through a snow-covered Himalayan pass, as well as a temple complex in Karki’s birthplace Bhaktapur. An inner courtyard terrace will be opened next spring.

On the menu

The menu includes the lentil soup Dal Parisi (4.90 euros), a mixed starter for two people, including with chicken skewers, fried potatoes in chickpea dough and mixed vegetables (9,50 Euro), six baked Momo dumplings with minced pork, half cooked, half fried (5,90 Euro) and main courses like Dal Bhaat Masu (lentil soup with seasonal vegetables, spinach, rice) either with chicken (16,50 Euro) or lamb (18,50 Euro). In a hot iron pan Aago Tapke (peppers, tomatoes, onions) is served, e.g. with lamb (17.90 euros) or cottage cheese (16.90 euros). The couple recommend Karki rice pudding with cashew nuts and mango syrup (5.90 euros) for dessert.

Among the beverages are the typical Nepal Ice Beer, an Export Lager (0.33l for 3.20 Euro), Khukri Rum (2 cl for 3.20 Euro) and sugar-cooked Nepal tea Chya (among others with cinnamon, cloves, cardamom) for 2.90 Euro. The four wines, such as the Pinot Gris Spätlese dry, come from the Mohr winery in Leutesdorf (0.2l glass each 4.80 euros, bottle each 16.90 euros).
