Wine festival on the Münsterplatz

There will be wine and gourmet stands and more for four days at the wine festival on Münsterplatz. From Thursday to Sunday, August 22 to 25, there will be music and wine tastings.On Friday, from 11 am to 4 pm, the main focus will be on wine aromas and blind tastings. In the evening Willi Bellinghausen plays with his group Schlager and Kölsche music. On Saturday the winegrowers offer wine tasting packages, and from 4 pm to 10 pm there will also be music from the show band Blue Monday. On Sunday the wine stands will be open from 12 noon to 8.30 pm. The seating area is covered with umbrellas to protect the guests from sun or rain.

Siegburger Stadtfest

The colours pink, blue, green, gold and red dominate the centre of Siegburg this weekend. They mark the different distances which visitors can walk. More than 100,000 people are expected. Between Cologne sounds and jazz music, art enjoyment, a children's programme and a party tower, islands of encounters emerge. This is not the only new feature of the 39th edition of the Siegburger Stadtfest. The programme for the Siegburger Stadtfest is available at www.stadtfest-siegburg.de.

JazzTube 2019 - Underground Concerts

On the weekend the JazzTube-Festival will take place in Bonn with Benedikt Hesse CubaNola (5, 5.45 and 6.30 pm), the Andreas Theobald Organ Trio (5.15, 6 and 6.45 pm) and the Claus Schulte Quartet with Valerie Simmonds (5.30, 6.15 and 7 pm).

At the underground concerts, a total of 15 bands will present their musical skills at the selected stops. They take the audience on a journey through the different styles of jazz, Latin, soul, funk, world music and improvisation.

City garden concerts on Friday

The popular Stadtgarten concerts, which will be held on the August weekends for the eighth time to delight the Bonn audience, are as colourful as ever. A little weird, a little crazy, often new and always free of charge, but never in vain: this is the best way to describe the series organised by the municipal cultural office and various partners. On Friday the Bonn indie rock band WESTND, the acoustic rocker Ijaz Ali, the neo-soul formation Gin Red and Melchi (New World Afro-Pop) will play. Reading tour through the old town

39 events at 38 locations – and the whole thing goes on for 23 days. This is made possible by the "Altstadt Lesereise" series of events, which is already experiencing its 15th edition this year. The organizer is the Altstadtinitiative Bonn (AIB). From 22 August to 15 September there will be readings on a wide variety of topics. On Friday, 23 August, the event will take place at Dorotheenstrasse 70, where Berthold Lange will be inviting visitors to take a foray through the Palatinate.

Guided tour of the government bunker

In the Ahr valley visitors can travel back to the Cold War. The remains of the former government bunker are hidden among the vineyards. Today they are a museum.Exactly 60 years ago, the Federal Ministry of the Interior gave the go-ahead for one of West Germany's most secret buildings. On April 1, 1959, it issued instructions for the construction of two unused railway tunnels in a "quick letter". Until 1971, the government bunker was built about 30 kilometers south of the former capital Bonn.

Grand City Tour with the GA Open Top Bus

After eight years and around 620,000 kilometres travelled, this will be the last season for the GA Open Top bus. The "Big City Tour" is the most popular tour in the "Bonn Tours for Individual Guests" offer, according to the city. Tickets for the sightseeing tour and all other guided tours are available at the Bonn-Information point of sale, Windeckstraße 1, where the convertible bus also departs, and online at bonnticket.de.

City garden concerts on Saturday

Three performances are planned for Saturday at the Stadtgarten concerts: At 6.30 pm Floatiz will play a mix of Hip Hop, Rock, Electro and Fusion, from 7.45 pm Jeremias Pop-Stylo-Funk will be heard at Alter Zoll and from 8.45 pm Surfpop on Kölsch with Planschemalöör.

International Silent Movie Days

The International Silent Film Days will run until 25 August in the Arkadenhof of Bonn University and in the Brotfabrik Cultural Centre. The 32nd edition focuses on films by and about women.Particular attention should be paid to Alice Guy, a pioneer of film and the world's first film director, who managed the production at Gaumont from 1897 to 1906 before founding her own production company in 1910 in Hollywood with Solax.

Sunday guided tour in the Botanical Gardens

One of Bonn's most beautiful oases, the Botanical Garden, invites you to conclude the weekend. Whether with or without a guided tour, you can enjoy nature here. With a bit of luck you can discover one of the water agamas living in the greenhouses.
