Niklas P. case Possible third suspect arrested

Bad Godesberg · Police have arrested a youth who did not show up for his court hearing on unrelated charges. He is thought to be a possible third suspect in the fatal attack on Niklas P.

In the case of Niklas P., it could be that a third suspect is behind bars. On Monday, a youth who had long been under police radar, was picked up and arrested. He was not detained directly in relation to the killing of the 17-year-old youth, but instead because he did not show up for a scheduled court hearing on other charges.

Apparently, there is not enough evidence to hold him on being involved in the deadly beating, and he is not the only one police are focusing on. Says Robin Faßbender of the city prosecution, “He is one of many suspects who could be the third suspect.” More information about the suspect was not given; he is under 18-years-old. The suspect, however, is believed to have been seen in the company of another suspect, Walid S. on the night of the attack, and he has been interviewed as a witness. His apartment had also been searched.

Since mid-May, 20-year-old Walid S. sits in jail as the main suspect in the case. A bloody jacket was found in his apartment, the blood having been identified as that of the victim. He is thought to have delivered the fatal blow and kick to the head. He denies any involvement in the crime. A second suspect, 21-years-old was arrested on June 20. Investigators determined that he wanted to attack Niklas even as he lay motionless on the ground. He remains silent on the charges against him.
