Andernach clinic escapee Offender caught after eight days on the run

Andernach · The criminal who escaped from a psychiatric ward in Andernach was arrested after eight days on the run. Apprehended east of Frankfurt in Karlstein am Main, the 34-year-old convicted murderer is considered dangerous.

The convicted murderer Sergej B., who was housed in a psychiatric clinic in Rhineland-Palatinate, was arrested after eight days on the run. He was found in a town called Karlstein am Main, east of Frankfurt. Police in Koblenz made the announcement on Friday morning. Reportedly, a patrol car of the Koblenz police checked the man for his identification and made the arrest at around four o'clock early Friday morning.

At a doctor's visit on Thursday of last week, the offender was able to flee even though he was accompanied by staff. Further related details are still unknown.

The 34-year-old man who murdered his father and is considered violent was hospitalized in 2005 in a psychiatry ward. He was living in the Rhein-Mosel Specialty Clinic in Andernach.
